Acropolis, Athens, Greece.

Deree College, North Athens, Greece.

The view from the library.

From the stairwell I caught a rainbow over the mountains!

Monastiraki, Athens, Greece.

On the second to last day in Greece I took my final trip to Monastiraki, a touristy area where young people hang out in the night and street performers show off their skills (or sometimes lack thereof) in attempts to make a living. Every night the square is filled with sounds of drums or stereos blasting music for dancers.
Ruins above Monastiraki.

Athens Flea Market.

View from Nomismatokopio metro station.

Farmers Market, Agia Paraskevi, Greece.

Every Monday from 9.00 to 14.30 farmers sell the vegetables and dairy that I stuffed my tummy with every week.
This emptiness is a rare sight at the market. Usually the street is crowded with little old ladies dragging baskets on wheels and vendors offering deals in very quick, often hard to understand Greek and of course the occasional decent English when they realize I'm a foreigner.

"Here are 11 Greek secrets to living well.

1.They eat a healthy Mediterranean diet.
2. They take naps.
3. They appreciate the value of a good walk.
4. They ask the big questions.
5. They take hospitality and generosity very seriously.
6. They've unlocked the secrets of longevity.
7. They take time for leisure.
8. They tell stories.
9. They spend time outdoors.
10. They come together over food.
11. They know where to find happiness."

Tonight is my last night in Athens after a semester filled with a wide variety of new experiences, and it still doesn't feel real that I'm leaving.

Venezia, Italia!

Our overnight train from Rome arrived in Venice at 5 am in the pitch black, freezing cold with no stores open due to the early hour. We wandered around in hopes of finding an open store and eventually our hotel. Finally at 6.30 am store lights started to turn on and we came across this cafe. Everyone loaded up on hot drinks and sat for an hour as light in the sky started to emerge.

Down the hidden alleyway in the center of this photo is our hotel.
Crepes all over Europe!
